At Agence France-Presse, I operated at the intersection of geopolitics, multimedia reporting, and strategic storytelling, documenting pivotal moments across West Africa with nuance and editorial precision. AFP’s mission is fast, verified, impartial coverage of global events, and my role as a video journalist was fundamentally about bringing that mission to life through narrative, context, and lived experience from the field.
I reported extensively on major ECOWAS political and security developments, translating complex regional dynamics into clear, impactful visual journalism that served newsrooms and audiences worldwide. This wasn’t just covering headlines, it was building the connective tissue between events and the audiences who needed to understand their implications in real time.
A key focus of my work involved the U.S.–Ghana defence partnership addressing insurgency threats in the Sahel. From sourcing and interviewing key actors to shaping visual narratives that grounded a global issue in human experience, I led coverage that paired deep subject knowledge with compelling storytelling. The work demanded rigorous verification, cultural fluency, and the ability to make geopolitical complexity accessible without sacrificing depth.
Working across bureaus, I also managed communication flows and editorial coordination, ensuring that video content, from breaking news to nuanced features, maintained AFP’s high standards for accuracy and global relevance. Whether in the field or at the editing desk, my journalism helped audiences understand not just what happened, but why it mattered, and what it meant next.

Looking back, my time at AFP was both a formative and defining chapter of my career, one that deepened my commitment to international reporting, sharpened my visual journalism skills, and anchored my belief in the power of global news agencies to shape informed public discourse.
