At Voice of America, I was part of a newsroom whose reach extends around the world bringing accurate and engaging journalism to millions of people in a dozen languages. My work there was rooted in turning local realities into globally relevant narratives that informed and connected audiences across borders.

I covered a wide range of stories across West Africa from socio-economic trends to legal developments and cultural milestones. I reported on how farmers in Ghana adapted to global supply chain pressures and food security challenges. I elevated community-led educational initiatives like youth chess workshops that empowered women and students. I documented efforts to preserve African photographic heritage with the opening of the continent’s largest photography library in Accra. I also examined legal changes affecting civic participation for the diaspora including court rulings that shaped voting rights abroad. These stories were grounded in empathy and context and aimed to deepen global understanding of everyday lives and long-term developments across the region.
A particularly high-profile assignment came with the visit of Kamala Harris, the Vice President of the United States to Ghana. I reported on her diplomatic engagement with Ghanaian leadership at the Jubilee House and captured how the visit underscored the deep historical and strategic ties between the United States and Ghana. During that trip the vice president met with Ghana’s president and announced new U.S. assistance aimed at strengthening regional stability and economic cooperation alongside discussions of democratic governance and youth empowerment.

Covering this visit challenged me to balance geopolitical complexity with clear storytelling for VOA’s diverse audience. I worked across video production print and online platforms coordinating with editors and correspondents to produce comprehensive coverage in real time. Whether coordinating shoots in the field producing broadcast packages or scripting digital features I learned to move seamlessly between formats while maintaining accuracy clarity and impact.
