Back to Thomson Reuters, where I served as Deputy Lead and TV Producer on the Multimedia Desk and played a central role in both editorial leadership and operational management for the Nigeria bureau over a four-year period.
In this position, I co-managed a network of more than 20 stringers, overseeing breaking news coverage from assignment through production and global dissemination. I worked closely with editors and regional desks to ensure accuracy, speed, and editorial consistency, particularly during high-pressure news cycles.
I functioned as a planning producer, with responsibility for managing the editorial calendar and overseeing long-term projects alongside daily news demands. This included aligning bureau priorities with global news agendas, identifying emerging stories, and ensuring efficient deployment of reporting resources. In addition, I served as the budgeting lead and stringer manager for the bureau, overseeing financial planning, contributor contracts, and operational logistics to support sustained, high-quality coverage.

Alongside leadership and planning responsibilities, I remained actively involved in hands-on journalism. I filmed, wrote, and edited breaking news and feature stories, contributing original multimedia content that met Reuters’ global standards for editorial rigor and storytelling. I also developed and maintained strategic relationships with government officials, civil society organizations, and key regional stakeholders, strengthening Reuters’ access to authoritative sources and reliable information.
I further supported newsroom coordination by managing the bureau’s alerting system and maintaining close collaboration with regional and international Reuters teams. Through this role, I helped ensure timely communication, seamless cross-bureau coverage, and continuity during fast-moving news events.

I also voiced several major stories covering developments across Sub Saharan Africa. This work involved recording voiceovers for broadcast and digital video packages that translated complex political and economic developments into clear and accessible reporting for global audiences. From regional policy developments to breaking news events, these stories formed part of Reuters’ international news coverage distributed to broadcasters and media partners worldwide. Contributing my voice to these reports allowed me to play a dual role in the newsroom.

Overall, my work at Reuters combined editorial judgment, operational leadership, and on-the-ground reporting, contributing to the bureau’s ability to deliver trusted, impactful journalism during moments of national and international significance. I produced and co-produced over 7000 multimedia stories (text, photos, and videos) over the course of this assignment.
